The Walpole Warriors Boys 7th/8th Grade soccer team delivered an impressive postseason performance capturing the BAYS Division 2 Championship with a dominant playoff run.
The Warriors showcased both skill and determination throughout the tournament, defeating three strong opponents on their path to the title:
• Mansfield, 1-0
• Newton, 7-2
• Westborough, 4-1 in the championship match
The championship roster included: Miguel Abreu, Adrian Bero, Brayden Caneja, Jovan Cianci, Noah Constante, Julian Filipi, AJ Finocchi, Griffin Mace, Finn Maffei, Ben Niles, Ronald Obour-Mensah, Max Penza, Kyle Roberts, JT Travers, Declan Walsh, and Adi Yathu.
The team’s success was guided by an outstanding coaching staff consisting of Dana Niles, Mike Finocchi, and Matt Roberts, whose dedication and leadership helped the Warriors achieve one of the most memorable seasons for the WYSA program.
A special recognition goes to Coach Dana Niles, a longtime pillar of youth soccer in Walpole. Over the past 17 years, Niles has coached numerous WYSA teams, including all four of his sons, while positively impacting generations of Walpole players both on and off the field. His commitment to youth development and community sports continues to leave a lasting legacy throughout the town.
With the BAYS Division 2 title secured, the Warriors now turn their attention to the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC), which will be held this weekend at Progin Park in Lancaster. The tournament begins Friday and runs through Sunday, bringing together some of the top youth soccer teams from across Massachusetts.
The Walpole community will be cheering on the Warriors as they look to build on their championship success and compete for state honors.
