Massachusetts Fallen Heroes, an organization dedicated to honoring the fallen, supporting Gold Star families and empowering veterans hosted its Annual Statewide Educational Program on May 25 at Wellesley High School. This statewide initiative is a part of the 2nd Annual Patriot Week, a 10-day series of events honoring local veterans and families of the fallen.
Gold Star brother Mike Ouellette, along with Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Board Member, Chris Lessard, traveled to Wellesley High School to share their story and to educate the students on the true meaning of Memorial Day.
Mike Ouellette lost his brother, Petty Officer 1st Class Brian Ouellette, on May 29, 2004, when his vehicle hit an explosive device in Afghanistan, killing Brian and three other U.S. Special Forces members. The Ouellette family are Waltham natives and this past Saturday, May 20, the City of Waltham dedicated a square to Brian Ouellette at the Waltham Common.
