The Westwood High varsity baseball team faced off against Millis last Friday at Westwood High.

The Wolverines led against Millis 2-0 throughout most of the game after picking up an early lead. The team solidified its lead with three back to back runs in the fifth inning, bringing the score of the game to 5-0.

The team picked up an additional run later in the game, and with Millis failing to pick up a single run, the Wolverines won with a shutout score of 6-0.

Baseball season began strong for the Wolverines. The team opened the season on April 11 with a 7-5 win against Bellingham at home. The team fell to Holliston at its next game with an 8-3 loss on April 11.

This season, the Wolverines are under new management as assistant varsity coach Jimmy Vanaria took over as head coach. He was officially named the replacement for long-time Wolverines head coach Brian Whelan, who stepped down in December.

The Wolverines were busy over April vacation week, as they competed in the Russell Downes Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday. The Wolverines take to the field next against Medway on April 26 at Medway High.
