The Dover-Sherborn High School boys track team placed third at Sunday’s Division I state meet in Norwell. Following the meet, the 2019 group of TVL All-Stars were announced, and to put it simply, DS held a strong presence.
Danny Bennett, Will Brown, Oliver Fried, Noah Guarini, Sam Little, Tylan Mendes, Spencer Robin, and Owen Wiemeyer were all named TVL All-Stars, while John Bennett, Aidan Britt, Ryan Britt, Jacob Brown, Brooks Burt, Matt Charron, Joseph Collins, John Fattore, Sawyer Garrett, Luke Loeffler, Nick Rinaldi, and Scott Sirr were named TVL Honorable Mention. Maura Bennett was named TVL Small Boys Coach of the Year.
The DS girls team was awarded the league’s Sportsmanship award while Tatum Evans, Merritt Sullivan, Amanda Borden, and Olivia Collins were named TVL All-Stars. Caitlin Britt, Virginia Borths, Sabrina Doyle, Izabella Friedel, Olivia Goganian, Katie Kovrlija, and Sigal Levine were named TVL Honorable Mention.
As for the meet results, Oliver Fried placed second in the mile, seventh in the 800 and anchored the 4x800 relay (1:59 split) for a second place finish. The relay team also included Noah Guarini, John Fattore, and Will Brown. Guarini also finished seventh in the mile. Brown finished eighth in the 800. Fried qualified for All States in the mile and the 4x800 relay team also qualified for All-States.
The 4x100 relay team of Nick Tuerk, Tylan Mendes, Spencer Robbins and Nick Rinaldi placed second. Sawyer Garrett placed third in the pole vault and qualified for All-States.
Sam Little placed fourth in the 200 meter and qualified for All-States. Aidan Britt placed eighth in the 200. Jacob Brown placed fifth in the triple jump. All of this resulted in a third-place overall team finish for the DS boys.
For the girls, Olivia Collins placed 2nd in the discus and qualified for All-States. Amanda Borden tied for seventh in the pole vault and Merritt Sullivan placed seventh in the 800. The DS girls placed 21st out of 40 teams.
