The Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization (MEMO) are in the midst of their Summer Concert Series happening Thursdays, 6-8pm. Most recently, the band The Grass Gypsys performed this past Thursday, July 12th, at the Gazebo right next to the Medfield Public Library.

The weather could not have been more perfect for this concert. Family and friends packed the grass area around the gazebo to enjoy some amazing music. Due to the timing of this event, there was a mix of both shade and sun for all to enjoy.

After setting up lawn chairs and blankets, attendees could enjoy a hot dog and/or some ice cream that was provided by local vendors. Having food/dessert present at these concerts is a new addition that MEMO has added and it definitely seems to bring a lot of comfort to families. By having these options, all are able to sit back and enjoy the concert without having to rush through dinner either before or after the show.

Treasurer of MEMO, Russ Hallisey, was in attendance running their MEMO booth. Here, everyone received a free raffle ticket in order to hopefully win a free t-shirt. Attendees were able to come up to the booth and drop their ticket in whichever shirt size they wanted to win.

In terms of the band, The Grass Gypsys were absolutely amazing! Hallisey described them as “an electric local band that has toured throughout America playing their original roots music. Their music ranged from upbeat rock ‘n roll to country ballad to soulful jazz. They have released three full-length albums, and always bring a toe-tapping performance.” Each performance is sponsored by local Medfield companies who are a part of MEMO. Additionally, each band, in some way, is associated with the town of Medfield. This season’s underwriter for this concert series is The Town of Medfield.

If you have not yet been to one of MEMO’s concerts, you are still in luck. They will be happening every Thursday, the last one being August 17th. The next show will be happening on July 20th and will feature the band, Route 109 Acoustic.

Hallisey further explained, “This is Medfield’s own cover band. For over a decade, Route 109 has entertained thousands at the MEMO Summer Concert Series, Medfield Day, and regional events. Come join family, friends, and neighbors for an evening of good times and great memories with beloved and new classics for all ages. Groove, sing-along, and relax to some tunes from favorites like Black Pumas, Green Day, Queen, country favorites, and more!”

This series is definitely one of Medfield’s favorite family-friendly events. For more information about the MEMO Summer Concert Series, please visit their website at www.medfieldmemo.org.
