The annual MEMO Summer Concert Series is in full swing behind the Medfield Public Library, and this past week featured Medfield local band Route 109. They took to the gazebo with their instruments and filled a quiet evening with classic hits.

People brought their chairs, picnic blankets, and a variety of food to enjoy with the live music. Tables showing local businesses and organizations lined the lawn to bring recognition to the ones who make events like this possible. The MEMO booth had their T-shirt raffle, where people could enter to win a free shirt that’s new every summer. The Medfield Lions Club had a table asking for new members and sharing their reach through local and regional events and fundraisers they put towards bettering the community. Needham Bank brought bubbles for the kids, a squishy toy that resembled a hard hat to celebrate their "Build What's Next" campaign, aiming to support scaling businesses, individuals, and local communities. They had a cutout people could put their face in for pictures, and a set of large Jenga blocks the kids had a blast playing with. They also had piggy banks the kids could make themselves. They fold the cardboard on the lines and pop a cork in as the pig’s snout, making a bank that is significantly easier to make a withdrawal from than a classic piggy bank.

Route 109 has been performing for and delighting crowds for over a decade. With their music performances spanning classics like Green Day and Joe Jackson, there is something for people of all ages to rock along to, or for the kids to race across the lawn to the backdrop of. They brought the country hits that rock through New England, complete with a tambourine on the vocalist’s hips. One of the best things about the MEMO concerts is their ability to take an ordinary summer evening and make it an excuse to get outside and spend time with your community while enjoying good music.
