The Sherborn Library brought back their annual summer concert series, turning the lawn behind the library into a venue of music and splendor on Wednesday evenings. To kick it off, the library welcomed a band with fans throughout the Metrowest area and is celebrated for their big sound and harmonies, Group Therapy.
Group Therapy is full of incredibly talented musicians and vocalists, up to four of the band members sing at any performance. They perform a variety of genres, from classical rock and roll, funk, Woodstock vibes, and contemporary hits, all of which for the crowd tapping their feet and singing along. With the addition of congas, timbales, and horns, they give every song they cover a unique take.
Starting off with hits like “Taking it Easy” which has people walking up the street to see what was going on, Group Therapy took the crowd through decades of music and heart. Laurie Young and George Moore led the vocals with killer harmonies and rhythm, not to mention Bob Brunsdon and Pat Drier who joined in on vocals while playing drums and keyboard, respectively. David Weden and Doug Ambos had people swaying with dueling guitar moments, but the dancing kicked in when they started playing together.

The library also prepared activities for the kids. Some played with flags and beaded necklaces, most were drawn in with the sand art. There were jars of different colored sand, empty jars in funky shapes, and even some on necklaces that they could layer the sand in to make art. Every kid made something totally different, but they had so much fun.
Families brought chairs and blankets to enjoy the music on while the band set up. Along the loop around the library were food trucks for patrons to enjoy, including this week’s Hut Island Vybes Jamaican Cuisine and T.C. Scoops. With the free music and food to enjoy, it turns an ordinary summer night into an engaging experience for everyone.
