Boys’ soccer comes close versus Ashland

Dover-Sherborn boys’ soccer went head to head with Ashland on Monday, September 29, falling short with a score of 1-2.
Though each time brought the fight, as both teams were taking headers off of punts, off of other headers, on offense, on defense, to their teammates, in crowds, away from the other team. Although the most shocking were the three-in-a-rows executed in the last ten minutes of the game by Dover-Sherborn defender and captain, senior Tsen Hamilton. Running back after a high ball with an Ashland player not far behind, Hamilton utilized a controlled header to direct the ball to goalie and fellow captain Patrick Driscoll, allowing him to legally pick up the ball and keep it from the Ashland offense.
Dover-Sherborn came into this game with a record of 5–2–0 while Ashland had 5–3–2, and the winner has seemed to alternate in past matchups between the two teams, so the close score in this game isn’t shocking.

The game ended with only three goals between both teams, but the score would have been much higher had it not been for several saves by Dover-Sherborn’s Patrick Driscoll and Ashland’s Siebren Feenstra. Driscoll was particularly under pressure for much of the game, and the first goal against him was deep into the half, scored by Ashland captain, junior Arthur Souza. Souza took an impressive shot from far left in the box and arced it over the goalie to the top right of the net.
With only two minutes left in the half, Dover-Sherborn midfielder William Sarhaddi responded by putting the ball in the lower right of Ashland’s net, assisted by defender Ahbhi Sharma, ending the half with a tie at 1–1.
But Ashland didn’t let that stand for long, opening the half with junior Kaua Costa scoring within the first minute. Later in the half, Dover Sherborn’s Ty Jeune had a good run and shot in an attempt to tie the game again, but it was saved by Feenstra.
Frustrations must have been running high between players because at the end of the game Jeune got a yellow card for what seemed to be a rather intentional foul on Ashland’s Dimitri Rozakeas. The latter was not injured and the game finished with no further incidents.
The Raiders’ next games will be this afternoon at 4:15 against Holliston and Tuesday at 4:00 against Medway, both on the Nora Searle Turf. On Thursday, October 16th at 7:15, Dover-Sherborn will be playing Medfield at Gillette Stadium. The team’s full schedule can be found at: www.arbiterlive.com.
