On June 29, the Sherborn Library opened its Summer Art Show, featuring painter Atefeh Yazdanparast’s “Beauty of the Ordinary.”

Yazdanparast has been painting since she was a teenager. Though she is now an Associate Professor of Marketing at Clark University, she remains enthusiastic about sharing her “interest in capturing the essence and texture of everyday objects” in her small still-life acrylic and oil gems that radiate beauty throughout the library’s community room. Yazanparast “invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and find beauty in simple objects of everyday life.”

The paintings present varied moods. A painting of white and yellow flowers in a metal cup is composed to create a blissful triangle shape. The flowers pop out of a darker background that complements the flowers perfectly. A reflection of the flowers in the metal cup emphasizes its shiny surface.

In another set of paintings, a bright and cheery stack of French macarons draws the viewer closer.  A cup of hot chocolate and some cookies on a blue and white tablecloth provides a conduit to light and happy memories. Bright oranges pop out of a light blue background as they sit in an attractive bowl.

A painting of a vibrant pumpkin with autumn background colors and others featuring exquisite, shiny, bright red apples and curvy green and brown pears exude the abundance coziness, and comfort of the season.

Yazdanparast’s talent shows in her selection of humble subjects, beautiful shadows and reflections, skilled choice of colors, and fine-tuned cohesiveness in each composition.
