While the weather was finally warming up here in New England, the Sherborn Library kept the wintery feelings alive, hosting a Winterfest event recently. Little ones and their families were welcome to enjoy some arts and crafts, face painting, a Frozen Sing-a-long, and more.
The Community Room was packed full of excited young ones, eager to meet the Snow Sisters, Anna and Elsa. A handful of little girls even dressed up as Elsa, sporting their very best blue and sparkly dresses. The duo sang an array of their popular hits, including “Let It Snow” and “For the First Time in Forever.” While singing, the sisters could be seen twirling young ones around and holding their hands.
After their performance, they instructed all the little ones to form a line to meet them and have their parents take photos if they wanted to. The sisters even passed out some signed autographs as well which the kids went crazy over.
Either before or after meeting Anna and Elsa, there were an abundance of different activities for attendees to participate in. There was an origami table, a make-your-own Valentine’s Day card table, a beaded snowflakes table, a paper snowflakes table, a create-your-own picture frame table, a cookie decorating table, and a face painting station.
While each table was crowded with kids, perhaps the biggest hits of the day were the cookie decorating table and the face painting station. For cookie decorating, kiddos would receive a small cup of frosting (either chocolate or vanilla) and some sprinkles. With the help of their parents, they would go about decorating the cookie however they liked, all while sneaking some tastes in between.
There were two stations set up within the room for face painting and little ones had many options they could choose from: a polar bear, a snowman, the ice queen, flowers, a unicorn, a snake, a mermaid, and rainbow, a tiger, a butterfly, a fairy, and/or a dragon. They were also allowed to ask for some special requests if they wanted to.
It can be said with ease that this Winterfest event was a major success with many of the kiddos not wanting to leave at the end. Their faces lit up the entire time, enthralled with Anna and Elsa and enjoying all the crafts that were offered.
