For the sixth straight season, Dover-Sherborn boys lacrosse are the champions of Division III Central/East, following a dominant 12-7 victory over No. 2 Littleton on Thursday that featured a first half shutout by goalie Matt Gallitano (seven saves).
A pair of goals from star sophomore attack-man Pierce Gregory gave DS a 2-0 lead at the end of one quarter. Gregory potted home a third in the second quarter, along with goals by Henry Kenney, Timmy Polk, and Erik Niit, as the Raiders took a six-goal lead into halftime.
Littleton finally got on the board to cut the deficit to 7-1 early in the third, but DS responded with back-to-back goals from Polk and Peter Barnard to claim a 9-2 lead at the end of three.
Littleton cut the deficit down to five at 11-6 late in the fourth quarter, but DS fought off the late comeback attempt to prevail with the five-goal victory. Gregory finished with four goals and three assists for DS.
On Monday, the DS boys served up some revenge to Cohasset, who defeated the Raiders 9-6 in last season’s state title game. Timmy Polk (five goals) and Pierce Gregory (three) led the Raiders to a semifinal final rout of the reigning champion Skippers with a 14-6 victory. DS will take on on Central/West champ Grafton in the state finals, a team that the Raiders took out in the state semifinals last season en route to BU.
