On Columbus Day weekend, a group of U14 Westwood Youth Soccer boys participated in the 37th Natick Soccer Columbus Day Tournament. The boys played three preliminary round matches against teams from Natick, Arlington and Needham over Saturday and Sunday. The boys were victorious in all three matches while allowing only one goal against.
The team earned its way to the semifinal round on Monday, where they secured a win against Natick. The team then faced a tough Framingham team in the tournament final on Monday afternoon. The final match was scoreless until the last couple of minutes of regulation time, when the boys scored the only goal of the game to earn a 1-0 win and tournament championship. The boys displayed tremendous energy, skill, teamwork and heart throughout their victorious run.
