Eager to fill their stomachs, the Wolverines had one last thing to do; win a championship. Westwood (8-3) faced off against their rival, the Holliston Panthers (5-6) seeking to ad a win and a back-to-back TVL large championship to complete their Thanksgiving.he relentless downpour turned the game into a battle of grit, but Westwood embraced the challenge, dominating both sides of the ball for a decisive 32-6 victory.
The game kicked off with Westwood showing their defensive prowess, “stuffing” Holliston’s offense on a quick 3-and-out, forcing a punt right from the start. Westwood’s promise to execute on both sides of the ball was clear when quarterback Ty Pindel delivered a 30-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Senior Charlie Toole. Back on defense the Wolverines would show their ferocious defensive line. Sophomore Keilen McDonald was a constant nightmare for Holliston’s quarterback, who felt the full weight of McDonald’s pressure, especially when he and Senior captain Mario Vinci combined to deliver a punishing sack. McDonald completed one of his three sacks and secured two fumble recoveries and 1 forced fumble. Though the Wolverines suffered a blow when running back Dante Martucci was injured and sidelined for the remainder of the game, their resilience never wavered. The game progressed with dominance from Westwood, again McDonald getting a fumble recovery after a punt from the Wolverines.
With the score at 6-0, neither team was feeling comfortable. Enter Sophomore Keilen McDonald, who caught a pass from standout quarterback Ty Pindel in the end zone, extending the lead to 12-0. Pindel added to his tally, finishing with five touchdowns. An interception by Holliston seemed to have no effect on Pindel, as after a Holliston punt he sent a pass from his own 30 yard line to Thomas Warren who evaded a defender and walked into the endzone. The score was 18-0, a dominant performance for Westwood in the 2nd quarter.
In the third quarter, the first drive was a pass to Drew Donegan to put them in scoring position. After that, a pass to Junior receiver Jaedyn Drayton in the endzone made the score 25-0. With each possession, Westwood made it abundantly clear that they were not only in control of the game, pushing toward a dominant victory that would cement their place as TVL champions.
In the fourth quarter, the Wolverines were determined to keep the shutout intact and finish their season on a dominant note. Midway through the last quarter Ty Pindell added his fifth TD pass to Drew Donnegan in the endzone making the score, an astounding 32-0. With only two minutes left, Holliston managed to slip through the defensive line for a late touchdown, putting the score at 32-6. Though, the Wolverines still reigned victorious.
After the game, the Westwood Wolverines were crowned TVL large champions for the second time in a row beating out Norwood and Holliston. The game was a great example of the Wolverines dominant season as Senior captains Drew Donnegan, Charlie Toole, Dante Martucci and Mario Vinci led Westwood to destroying their opponents.
