On Friday, May 26, the Thurston Middle School Orchestra won the platinum level highest honors plaque at the 2017 Great East Music Festival. This was the first time the Thurston Middle School had won platinum level honors for its orchestra ensemble. The Thurston Middle School 8th grade band and chorus also won gold level honors on the same day.
