Walpole raid yields drugs, firearms

Five individuals were arrested in a pre-dawn raid on Thursday, March 30, yielding hard drugs and guns on the corner of Norfolk Street and Renmar Ave.
“At approximately 4:30 a.m.,” read a press release from the Walpole Police Department, “members of the Metrolec SWAT team, the NORPAC drug task force, and officers of the Walpole Police Department conducted a search warrant on 252 Norfolk St. in the town of Walpole.

“As a result of this search, 5 males were arrested and charged … Officers on the scene seized trafficking weight of fentanyl pills as well as other opioids. Officers also recovered 4 long guns and ammunition.”

drug_raid_2Fentanyl is a synthetic opiate that can be from 50 to 100 times as potent as morphine, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. In comparison, heroin (which produces similar biological effects to fentanyl) is typically two to three times as potent as morphine.

As a result of the early-morning raid, five men were in custody as of last Thursday morning:

A 52 year-old Walpole man was charged with being present where heroin was being knowingly kept, possession of a Class A substance with an intent to distribute, distribution of a Class A substance, conspiracy to violate drug law, trafficking fentanyl, and an outside arrest warrant.

A 48 year-old Walpole male was charged with being present where heroin was being knowingly kept, possession of a firearm without an FID, and possession of ammunition.

A 36 year-old Walpole man was charged with being present where heroin was being knowingly kept, and possession of a Class B substance.

A 54 year-old Milton man was charged with being present where heroin was being knowingly kept, and possession of a Class B substance, and possession of a Class C substance.

A 63 year-old Walpole man was charged with being present where heroin was being knowingly kept, conspiracy to violate drug law, and possession of a Class A substance.
