Driver hospitalized with serious injuries after crash

On Thursday, March 13 Walpole Police were investigating a crash that left one personal hospitalized after sustaining serious injuries.

The crash occurred on Summer Street, causing the street to be closed down between Winter Street and the Norfolk town line.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers and Walpole Fire Department firefighters discovered a black Toyota SUV with significant damage after it had collided with a tree on the side of Summer Street.

Walpole Firefighters, represented by IAFF Local 2464, were actively managing the scene. A Boston MedFlight helicopter was called to assist and landed at Walpole Town Hall. The Norfolk Police Department was on scene, providing support by assisting with the road closure. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. The patient was MedFlighted to a hospital in Boston.

At the time of submission, according to Walpole Police Department, “the crash remains under investigation by WPD Patrol & Accident Reconstruction personnel.” The condition of the injured is unclear at the time of submission.
