In a strong defensive effort, the 6th Grade DSW Patriots defeated Holliston 19-0 on Sunday morning, September 11, to go 2-0 on the season. Led by Michael Polk’s three rushing touchdowns and with strong ball carrying by Will Dummer and Mekhi Robinson, the 6th graders battled the wind and rain to piece together the victory. Polk also contributed two timely fumble recoveries in the win, with key defensive plays from Griffin Rosbottom, Zane Clarke, and Josh Jerskey.
The following Sunday morning, the 6th Grade DSW Patriots extended their record to 3-0, defeating a feisty Waltham squad 26-8 on the Westwood High School turf. Catching a short pass from scrimmage, Griffin Rosbottom sprinted 60 yards for a touchdown, while Michael Polk rumbled for three more rushing touchdowns to bring his season total to 8. Two PAT catches in the end zone by Connor Mathews completed the scoring for the home team. The Patriots capitalized defensively forcing Waltham to punt on multiple three and out series. Stout defensive play by Polk, Mekhi Robinson, Matt Darin and Zane Clarke culminated with Josh Jerskey’s key interception to halt Waltham’s attempt to close the scoring gap.
The Patriots look for their fourth win 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon against Medway at Medway High School.
