Dover-Sherborn High hosted the Medfield Warriors on Monday, May 6 for their ninth TVL matchup of the season. Dover-Sherborn fell to Medfield 21-2 in the evening’s competition, despite their seniors' leadership on the field; Avery O’Connell and Meredith Salvin each scored a point for the Raiders in the second quarter, but DS’ quiet second half led to Medfield’s dominant 21-2 win.

In the first quarter, Medfield silenced their hosts with a 10-0 start to the beginning of the competition. DS’ O’Connell and Kelly Devine encouraged their team’s defense, and in the last minute, Dover-Sherborn reached up to their offensive zone after breaking away from Medfield’s pressure. The Raiders worked around the net, but Medfield closed the quarter 10-0.

Headed into the second, Medfield put up two more goals after DiPiero’s, and were 13-0 until Dover Sherborn’s Avery O’Connell raced down the field and pocketed a goal in the net for the Raiders making the score 13-1. Medfield placed another point on the board, but Dover-Sherborn quickly answered back with their last goal of the evening when Meredith Salvin ripped another shot into Medfield’s net. The half closed 15-2 with Medfield in the lead.

Dover-Sherborn’s defense tightened more in the second half, and the Raiders made some quick breakaways. However,  the game came to a close with Medfield in favor 21-2.

Head coach Erin Massimi shared that the team was looking into the game as a checkpoint midway through the season. She hopes the girls will put the loss behind them and move forward as a team to finish the season strong: “This is a team where you know they are very talented and you kind of take the opportunity to see where you are. It’s a little past midway through the season to test our offense and defense, just check everything to see where we are. Unfortunately, it didn't really happen…  At the end of the day, we just got to move forward, we can’t dwell,” said Massimi.

The Raiders will travel to CohassetHigh on Thursday, May 16 the game is set to begin at 6:30 PM.
