It was a successful weekend for the Needham High wrestling team, which competed in the Div. 1 Central tournament at Newton South on Saturday.

Five wrestlers advanced to this weekend’s Div. 1 state tournament at Brockton High, including senior captain Lucas Goldman, who won the title at 160 pounds, and junior Brady Liss, who won the 113-pound title with a pin in the final.

Joining Goldman and Liss at this weekend’s tournament are junior Dan Aksman, who finished second at 182 pounds and seniors Griffin Hood (220) and Ethan Okunas (152), who each took third.

Junior David Kurker (145) and freshman Peter Bannon (106) both finished in fifth place and will be alternates for the state meet. Senior captain Panagiotis Zymaris finished sixth at 132 pounds.
