The Medfield boys’ soccer team hosted the Dedham Marauders last Tuesday in an intense matchup that ended in a satisfying 3-2 victory for the Warriors. The crisp autumn chill in the air created the perfect atmosphere for the spectators gathered in the stands to watch the action.

The first half proved to be the most exhilarating, with all five goals coming early in the game. The Warriors took an early 2-1 lead with goals scored by Jackson Dodge and Sebastian Brooke. Momentum shifted temporarily when Dedham was awarded a penalty shot, tying the score with 15 minutes left in the half. With the game locked, both teams delivered exceptional efforts that left spectators on the edge of their seats. With about 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Medfield scored to regain the lead for good.

Medfield maintained possession for the majority of the match, executing well-thought-out passes and creating multiple scoring opportunities. Those on the sidelines, led by Head Coach Jason Heim, shouted words of encouragement and helpful positioning adjustments as the game progressed.

In the second half, Dedham appeared determined to not only even the score but also to pull out a win. However, the Warriors refused to let up, showcasing their excellent skills and tenacity. Despite multiple scoring attempts, both goalies held their ground, resulting in a scoreless second half and a 3-2 win for Medfield.

After the final horn, the victorious Warriors shook hands with the Marauders before erupting with joy over handing Dedham only its second loss of the year.

On Saturday, Medfield continued its winning ways with a big non-league victory over undefeated and 11th-ranked Dighton-Rehoboth. Senior captain Charlie Curmi scored both goals in the 2-0 shutout, pushing the Warriors’ record to 6-3-2. The boys will put their No. 9 state ranking to the test this week with games against area league rivals Hopkinton, Holliston, and Medway.
