Crafts bring out creativity and chatter

The Medfield Public Library hosted their ongoing program, Outdoor Craft & Chat for Adults, this past Wednesday, June 28th. Although the unpredictable weather made this program a bit challenging, all were welcome to bring their own chair or picnic blanket to the Medfield State Hospital grounds as well as any craft they were working on.

For two hours, these crafty adults worked on their projects and socialized with one another. While there are a few regulars that always come to this program, the Medfield Public Library would love for more to join the group!

Director of this program, Bri Ozanne, is known to be an excellent embroiderer and can help any and all who need it. She always brings extra supplies and can also lend a helping hand for those who are working on some stitching. In terms of projects that attendees bring to work on, Bri said there are quite a few she has seen; “We have seen people editing their writing, we have knitters, we have crocheters, somebody was doing paper crafts, we’ve had someone bring a loom, we even had someone quilting as well. It’s really a fun time. We spend most of our time working on our stuff but the show and tell aspect is pretty awesome. It’s really helpful to have a group of other people that are into this kind of thing and we are all pretty comfortable with one another so we appreciate the critique.”

This type of program is not the only thing the Medfield Public Library has going on this summer. One super interesting event they are holding is the Medfield Library Summer Challenge for adults. While there is also one for kids, they wanted to make sure that adults were incorporated into this type of challenge as well. Any adult can win prizes by reading as many books of your choosing, reading to someone else, attending an adult program, checking out a museum pass or item from the “Library of Things,’ donating time, goods, or money to a non-profit, and/or becoming a friend of the Medfield Public Library.
