Sherborn kicked off both the first day of 2024 and its 350th-anniversary celebration with fire pits and community camaraderie. The Committee to Celebrate Sherborn’s 350th Anniversary, in collaboration with numerous local organizations, orchestrated the event with the aim of providing warmth and fostering community spirit in Sherborn on the inaugural day of the new year – a goal successfully achieved.

Sherborn has a myriad of events lined up for its 350th anniversary, including a movie premiere, a town-wide scavenger hunt, a town-wide concert, and many more. The inaugural event of the year, "Fire Pits and Festivity," took place just outside the Sherborn Community Center, a hub that significantly contributes to the town's vibrancy. The primary objective of this celebration was to bring the community together. Town members were encouraged to commence their new year with a hike or stroll through Sherborn's extensive trail network and then join the community for hot chocolate, cider, warm fires, and other treats.

A multitude of individuals gathered to bask in the warmth of the fires after exploring Unity Farm or touring the town's trails, sharing stories, and outlining goals for the new year with friends. This event served as a fantastic means to welcome all community members and ignite enthusiasm among residents for the upcoming year. Some events throughout 2024 will offer limited edition stickers for children, encouraging their participation and engagement in various activities around town.

The Sherborn Men's Group contributed the firewood sourced from local trees to keep the fire pits ablaze throughout the day, while the Community Center generously provided the use of their building and land. The Unitarian Universalist Church also lent their land for the Fire Pits and Festivity event, and Sherborn Forest and Trail provided maps detailing all walking and hiking paths across the town. Sherborn takes pride in its community's collaborative spirit during events.

Several events are slated for Sherborn residents in 2024, and if "Fire Pits and Festivity" is any indication, they are poised to be remarkable, offering additional avenues for townspeople to actively participate.
