Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s (MHS) Tulip Mania is back for its fourth year, and it’s better than ever. Located less than 20 miles from downtown Boston at The Garden at Elm Bank, this picturesque destination offers nearby residents the chance to wander through fields featuring more than 75,000 vibrant blooms, sure to delight visitors of all ages. This year’s event opened to the public on Thursday, April 23, and thousands of visitors are expected throughout the run.

There are two tulip fields available for viewing. The first, the display garden, is located in the Trial Garden area near the event entrance. These carefully curated flower beds offer stunning photo opportunities, as picking is not permitted. Benches are placed throughout the space, inviting guests to sit and take in the colorful surroundings.
The second tulip field is less than a half-mile stroll away, with a scenic path that winds through portions of the property’s 36 acres of gardens. In addition to tulips, visitors can enjoy a variety of seasonal blooms, including daffodils, magnolias, rhododendrons, and hyacinths. Just past the Manor House is the pick-your-own field, which is just as breathtaking as the display garden, if not more so. A wide range of tulip varieties, including Mystic Prince, Saigon, Spring Break, Slawa, and Dynasty, create a vibrant burst of color across the field.

“Look, the sun is even coming out for us today!” one visitor exclaimed while waiting for her friend at the entrance. “Well, our day just got a whole lot better,” her friend replied.
The garden season at MHS runs from April 1 through November 24, offering plenty to explore throughout the year, including the popular Sunflower Spectacular in August. For more information on upcoming events, hours, admission, and membership, visit www.masshort.org
