On April 11th, girls’ lacrosse played the Lincoln-Sudbury Warriors at home. Last season, the Rockets and Warriors both had regular season records of 11–6 but did not face each other.
At 13–7, the Rockets were down by six goals at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but scored not long after the faceoff with two goals by #27. However, Lincoln-Sudbury responded with three goals, bringing the score to 16–9.

With just under five minutes left in the game, #27 took a good shot that went just a little bit high. A minute and a half later, #21 scored with an overhand shot. With two and a half minutes left, #19 took a shot that went a little high, but got another chance and scored when #20 passed her the ball from behind the net.
Twenty seconds later, Needham was able to strike again. And with a little under two minutes left, the Rockets found the back of the net again bringing the score up to 16–12.
Unfortunately, the Warriors were able to score three more times in the final minute of the game, and the Rockets lost 19–12.
The Rockets’ next game will be this afternoon at Newton North at 4:30. Last season Newton North had a record of 12–6 and beat the Rockets 15–5. Then they will play Franklin on the road at 10:00 on Thursday, April 23rd. Needham and Franklin did not play each other last year, but Franklin had a 16–2 record. The Rockets’ next home game will be against Wellesley on Tuesday, April 28th at 4:00. The Raiders were 17–4 and beat Needham in both matchups last year, 18–3 and 19–6.
