On Thursday, July 10, the Medfield-based Route 109 Acoustic band played its 14th annual concert in the MEMO (Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization) Summer Concert Series. The concert was held at the Gazebo in Warrior Park next to the Medfield Public Library. After last week’s heat wave, it was a rare cool night with a little drizzle, but the crowd enjoyed the music, lawn games provided by Needham Bank, and gift-card and t-shirt raffles held by MEMO

The popular Route 109 Acoustic included Medfield’s Larry Summers on vocals, a woman singer and a bass player from Medfield and a guitar player from Windham, NH. Electronic drums rounded out their sound. The band’s song list included eclectic selections from the 1980s to the present, with songs from Amy Winehouse, the Black Pumas, Green Day, Queen, The Police, and country hits.

During the concert, kids in attendance danced joyfully along with the music and enjoyed playing sweet little colorful maracas provided by the band. Adults ate dinner or snacks, chatted with friends, and grooved to the music. Some ventured to the adjacent Brothers to pick up meals or treats.

The 2025 MEMO Summer Concert Series at the Gazebo was underwritten by Borchers Trust Law, and the Route 109 Acoustic concert was sponsored by the Medfield Lions and Needham Bank. Next up in the series, playing from 6pm-8pm, will be A Celtic Band on July 17, Shane Wood Jazz Trio on July 24, The Elderly Brothers Band on July 31, and The Stacey Peasley Band on August 7. Stop by for a pleasant summer evening with family and friends. You may want to bring folding chairs or a blanket and a picnic. The Chubs Ice Cream Truck, a MEMO member, will stop by with refreshing treats.
