The Dover Mother’s Association (DMA) and the Dover Land Conservation Trust (DLCT) presented the Springdale Field Festival. This kickoff-to-fall event was located at Springdale Field right in Dover, MA in which the weather conditions could not have been more perfect.
This is the second year that these two organizations joined forces to create one massive event. While the name of the event has changed over the years, it still holds the same amount of fun.
Members of the DLCT noticed that the DMA ran their Family Fun Fest on the same day that they ran their Springdale Field Fest two years ago. Instead of almost competing with each other, the DLCT reached out to the DMA to see if they wanted to come together and still use the Springdale Field. Members of the DMA loved the idea and thus the Springdale Field Festival double-header was created.
The event lasted for four hours and included a variety of fall festivities featuring face painting, a petting zoo, wood-fired pizza, an ice cream truck and multiple musical performances. These performances included local favorites like that of “Jammin With You,” “Backwards Hats,” and “Offside.”
There were multiple tents set up with ample seating for those to enjoy both food and beverages. Throughout the field, lawn games and children activities were placed in which there was truly something for everyone.
Everything within this event was completely free of charge and just a great way for the Dover community to come together and enjoy the start of fall. DLCT President Tom French went on to state, “Protected open space is at the heart of what makes Dover special. The Land Trust currently protects over 700 of the most precious acres in Dover including the beautiful open meadows at Springdale Field. The Festival is a wonderful way to celebrate the good works of DLCT but also provide a forum for Dover families to enjoy one of Dover’s treasured open public access spaces in Springdale Field.”
This year's Springdale Field Fest was truly a success as it was an enjoyable day for everyone in attendance.
