Sherborn Town Clerk Carole B. Marple mailed the 2016 dog licensing forms to all Sherborn dog owners in December. According to law, all dogs three months and older must be licensed and tagged (even if they are too young to have rabies shots).
All dog licenses conform to the calendar year, thus 2015 licenses expired on December 31 and all dogs must be licensed for 2016 as soon as possible. Dog owners are assessed a $50 penalty for each dog not licensed by February 18.
Licensing may be done by mail or in person. All applications should include a check for $15 neutered or spayed or $25 for intact dogs, a current rabies certificate and a self-addressed stamped envelope for each dog being licensed. Please note that although the rabies information may be on file in the Town Clerk’s Office, it may not be current.
In April all dog owners not complying with state and local dog licensing laws will be reported by the Dog Officer to the Natick District Court at Framingham for due process.
Licensing may be done at the Town Clerk’s Office in the Town Hall Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon.
