Winter sports off and running

Boys Basketball

Big Blue got off to a solid start by opening the season with a 55-43 win on the road over
Holliston. Senior Brady Nickerson lead the way with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Luke
Lisciandra added 13 while Rowan Tracey added 12 points in the win. The boys battled a tough
Westwood team in their home opener, dropping a close one 67-59.

Girls Basketball

Medball got off to a flying start to open the 2022-23 season. Coming into the season as the #3
ranked team in Division 2 by the Boston Globe, the Medfield girls proved the hype was legit with
a resounding 60-23 win over Holliston. Senior captain and Colby commit Kate Olenik lead the
way with 26 points while Freshmen starters Tess Baacke and Izzy Kittredge joined in with their
first varsity points. Medfield continued to roll by dominating rival Westwood 54-27. The Captains
accounted for 42 of Medfield’s 54 points, with Olenik tallying 28 while Junior captain Annie
Stanton logged 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Boys Hockey

Medfield Boys Hockey got off a 2-1 start to the season with solid wins over Holliston and
Westwood. Against rival Westwood, Will Perachi assisted Kevin Arthur for a shorthanded goal at
the end of the 1st to put the Warriors up. In the third period, the Senior captains secured the win
with James Tyer scoring shorthanded and Kevin Arthur burying his second of the game, icing
the victory with a late game snipe.


Girls Hockey

Girls Puck opened the season with back to back ties versus Medway and Norwood. Brook Reilly
scored unassisted against Norwood in the 1-1 stalemate while goalie Katelyn Nicotera kept the
game squared with outstanding play in the net.

Boys and girls winter track, girls gymnastics, and boys and girls swim and dive are all underway.
Fall sports TVL all-star honors went to Kaelyn Larkin for Volleyball, Ashley Malmquist for Field
Hockey, Chris Hoffman, Joe McDonald and Charlie Curmi for boys soccer, Bridget Deignan and
Kate Olenik for girls soccer, Nick Gangemi and Aiden Menard for football, Joey Nee and Aaron
Ravech for golf, Ella Kane, Emily Morgan, Anna LaRowe and Jack Daley for cross country.
