Boy Scouts of America, Troop 1, Sherborn, is inviting friends and neighbors from Sherborn to attend an Eagle Court of Honor for Nathan Matthew Sullivan. Nathan has recently completed all the requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout and will receive the award at the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony to be held on Sunday, May 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pilgrim Church in Sherborn. The rank of Eagle is the highest award in Scouting and is earned by less than 4 percent of Scouts.
Nathan has earned at least 21 different merit badges, including thirteen Eagle-required badges. Nathan has also held numerous leadership positions within the troop, performed many hours of community service, and organized and carried out an Eagle Leadership Service Project for the community with help from fellow scouts in Troop 1.
Nathan managed the engineering and building of a 22-foot long bridge in the Sherborn, Massachusetts trail system. This bridge now makes it possible for hikers, as well as bikers, to enjoy these nature trails. Nathan was inspired to do this after participating in countless hiking trips with his fellow scouts in both the Northeast and in New Mexico.
Nathan is the latest Eagle Scout from Sherborn Boy Scout Troop 1, which has been serving the town of Sherborn for over 80 years. The troop is comprised of boys from grades 6 through 12 and is led by an elected Senior Patrol Leader. The troop is supported by many active adult volunteers and is financially self-supporting.
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and to prepare them to make ethical choices over their lifetime to achieve their full potential.
