After a successful fall athletic season for Medfield High School, the 2016 TVL All-Star team was announced earlier this week, with an incredible number of Warriors getting their names etched on the prestigious list.

Football

After an 8-3 season that culminated with a 28-19 victory over Dover-Sherborn on Thanksgiving, the Medfield High football team had seven players make the 2016 TVL All-Star team: wideouts James Voss and Mitchell Gonser, tight end Michael Kennelly, linebackers John Quinn and Devin Kelley, defensive tackle and future captain of the Warriors John Lowell, and quarterback Ryan Eamer. The tandem of Eamer, Gonser, Voss, and Kennelly led the Warrior offense to great success throughout the season, with Gonser and Voss playing massive roles on special teams as well. Quinn, Kelly, and Lowell also did their part on the defensive side and made life miserable for opposing quarterbacks.

Girls Soccer

The Medfield High girls soccer team put together an extremely impressive performance in 2016 with a 15-4-3 record and a deep run into the MIAA Division II South Sectional Playoffs, making it all the way to the sectional final (3-1 defeat to Hingham). Following the dominant regular season and long run into the state tournament, senior Maggie McCarthy was named a TVL All-Star while senior captain Taylor Sherman was named TVL All-Star as well as Boston Herald All-Scholastic. TVL Honorable Mentions include Lauren Casieri, Alana Cooney, and senior captain Kathryn Giordano.

Boys Soccer

Senior captain Jack Cahill helped the Warriors to an 8-6-4 record in 2016, as well as an appearance in the Division II South Sectional Playoffs after leading the team in goals. For his consistent and clutch efforts in both ends of the soccer field, Captain Jack was awarded the honors of TVL All-Star and will look to continue his strong athletic career this spring on the lacrosse field before going off to play lax at Holy Cross next fall.

Field Hockey

After a hard fought 4-7-3 season, the Medfield High field hockey team had two of its players named to the TVL All-Star team in Tess Beardsley and Naomi Lau, while Anna Pagliarulo and Kate Slowe were named TVL Honorable Mention.

Volleyball

After winning the Tri-Valley League regular season title outright while putting together a 16-5 (15-1 TVL) record, the Medfield High volleyball team had four of its members win the honors of TVL 1st Team All-Star: senior captain Julia McDevitt, Jess Sturchio, Tina Wagenseller, and senior captain Ally Beck, who also took home honors of TVL MVP and placed on the Division II All-State team.

Golf

The Medfield High golf team went 14-4 and placed second in the TVL in 2016. Three Warrior golfers were awarded honors of TVL 1st Team All-Star in Ted Hunt, Nolan Driscoll, and Owen Murphy, while Mike Marie was awarded TVL 2nd Team All-Star.

Boys Cross Country

John Churchill and Mark Fitzpatrick led the Medfield boys cross country team to a 5-2 overall record in 2016, and both were awarded the honors of 2016 TVL All-Star. Fitzpatrick was also awarded second place for the TVL Sportsmanship Award.

Girls Cross Country

Julie Letai and Jordan Wilson helped lead the Medfield girls to a 5-2 overall record in 2016. Letai was awarded the honors of 2016 TVL All-Star while Wilson was awarded TVL Honorable Mention and the TVL Sportsmanship Award.
