Last Wednesday, the Lady-Raiders opened up their 2018 postseason with a 3-1 preliminary round victory against Plymouth South.

After a scoreless first half that saw DS carry the majority of the play, senior captain Haley Gladstone got the Raiders on the board with 29:19 to play by firing home the rebound of a shot by Abigail Gramer to put DS ahead, 1-0.

With 17:40 remaining, Emma Goodness doubled DS’s lead by tipping a shot from Payton Ahola on a penalty corner attempt to make it a 2-0 game. Ahola notched her second point of the contest moments later with 8:39 to play when the junior flew in on a fast break, dangled a pair of defenders, and smacked home the dagger with a wicked shot into the back left corner of the net to make it 3-0.

DS senior captain Haley Gladstone (3) puts on the breaks and cuts back to the middle midway through the first quarter.

Plymouth got one back with 7:43 to play to make it 3-1, but the Raiders bunkered down defensively and thwarted any sort of legitimate opportunity to come away with the two-goal victory.

On Friday, DS dropped a 2-0 heartbreaker at No. 2 Dennis-Yarmouth in the first round.
