McCarthy spearheads Coats for Kids drive

Medfield High School sophomore Kaitlyn McCarthy has partnered up with Coats for Kids and Anton’s Cleaners to collect winter coat donations as the cold weather rolls in. Winter coats for both children and adults are gladly accepted.

Coats for Kids’ goal is to collect, clean, and distribute coats to everyone in need. The foundation started in 1995 and has collected over one million coats throughout the years, keeping those in need warm during the winter weather.

Those with coats they no longer need, or have outgrown, are asked donate to this wonderful cause. Donating is easy; coats can be dropped off at Medfield High School, Dale St. School, or the Medfield Public Library through January 6.

For further information, visit antons.com/cfk to learn more about the organization. Monetary donations of any amount are also welcomed and appreciated. Those donations may be made directly at antons.com.

As an incentive to donate as many coats as possible, the sponsors of this drive are giving away rewards for the top three schools who collect the most coats. The grand prize for the leading school is $1,200 towards their sports and after-school programs. The first, second, and third place schools will have the opportunity to receive IMAX theater tickets, and a large sum of money for other school programs and supplies.

“Not only is this an opportunity to benefit those in need," said McCarthy, "it also offers great prizes for our schools.”

McCarthy hopes that Medfield residents will be inspired to donate their extra coats and possibly earn a reward for the Medfield Public Schools.
