Some 100 Westwood senior citizens were served a delicious Christmas turkey luncheon courtesy of the Police Relief Relief Association. For the fifth holiday in a row, the police fund is giving back to the community.
The association Secretary-Treasurer, Sgt. Joseph Vinci, explained that through direct mail and telemarketing, the organization generates a fund that underwrites officers who are injured or fall ill in the line of duty and are unable to report to their regular police assignments.
Police officers, their wives, director of the Westwood Senior Center Lina Arena DeRosa, and Police Explorers (teens who intern at the police department) volunteered as waitstaff serving the seniors.
The event was held at the Old Colonial Café, Norwood.
