Finding time to work on crafting projects can be challenging, which is why the Westwood Council on Aging offers a weekly knit and crochet club. This gathering provides a space for everyone to focus on their crafts, whether knitting, crocheting, or other projects.
The club meets weekly in a community room at the COA, welcoming participants of all skill levels. The group is known for its supportive atmosphere, where experienced members share tips and tricks with those who are new to the craft. Louise, who runs the club, helps newcomers learn to knit and offers engaging conversation throughout the meetings.
Regular attendees enjoy showcasing their progress and discussing local happenings. They appreciate the opportunity to connect with people from Westwood and beyond, seeking advice, swapping patterns, and staying in touch with friends. The group eagerly looks forward to each meeting as a chance to catch up and share their latest projects.
This week’s conversation centered around how members learned to knit, with some having done so for a lifetime and others picking up the hobby more recently. Newcomers were greeted warmly, and plans were made to share projects and swap yarn while crafting together.
The knitters of the COA welcome everyone every Wednesday from 1-3 pm. The COA also offers a variety of other crafting programs, including a quilting club. There’s something for everyone at the COA, and many friendly faces await. For more information on the programs, check the newsletters available on the Town Hall Website.
