On Sunday, September 18, the Westwood Early Childhood Council, in collaboration with Powissett Farm and the Council on Aging, held its first Intergenerational Exploration Program at Powissett Farm in Dover.
A group of 20 local seniors, children and parents worked together collecting eggs and herbs while learning about the farm and various breeds of chickens. Once all of the ingredients were collected, the group gathered in the farm kitchen to roll out dough, mix ingredients and create a variety of mini quiches to enjoy during brunch.
This was the first session of what is hoped to be a seasonal program. This program was created to encourage children and senior interaction in an engaging and meaningful way that is interesting and stimulating for all.
