The League of Women Voters of Westwood Walpole Dedham hosted a very successful presentation on recycling at the Westwood Public Library. Those unable to attend may view the presentation at https://youtu.be/LXOfiSxdrCA.
Recycling has been in the news for the past year, from China's embargo on our recycling to how and why we need to recycle correctly.
During the presentation, Claire Galkowski did a deep dive into impacts from some everyday consumer products, from raw material extraction to disposal. She explained how recycling works, and provided practical tools to reduce, reuse, and “recycle smart."
The talk inspired new ways to think about “stuff,” and show how members of the community can be gentler to our forests, streams, oceans and atmosphere.
Galkowski is the longtime director of the fifteen-town South Shore Recycling Cooperative and a lifelong waste warrior. She is also a member of the Westwood Environmental Action Committee and the WWD LWV.
