Seniors were in luck this holiday season as members from the Westwood Girl Scouts dropped by the Westwood Council on Aging (COA) to help wrap presents for any who needed it. Members of the Westwood COA were welcome to bring any type of present they needed wrapped, completely free of charge!
Angelina, Charlotte and Grace, along with their Troop Leader, came fully prepared bringing all the supplies they needed, including wrapping paper, tape, scissors, ribbons, bows, gift tags and pens. Once they were all set up, seniors filed in one by one, excited to get some of the holiday stress out of the way.
The presents being wrapped ranged from children toys like Legos and blocks, to more adult-type gifts like scarves, jewelry, and books. No matter the size, these Girl Scout members were on it, creating beautifully wrapped presents that all COA members raved about.
When talking amongst some of the attendees, they were overcome with joy to have these girls there helping them. “I think what these girls do is absolutely incredible,” one COA member stated, “They are always so friendly and it is just so nice they are doing this for us. We are so lucky to have them here.”
Director of Westwood Council on Aging, Lina Arena-DeRosa, welcomed these Girl Scout members with open arms, beaming with excitement. She certainly was not surprised at just how prepared they came, for they have always been this way. “This is such a cool thing that they do for our seniors,” Lina mentioned, “and we just love having them here. We got a lot of feedback this year from our seniors saying that they would like this event to be later on in December next year, so I think that is what we are going to do.”
As a whole, the turnout for this extremely helpful event was spectacular and all of the seniors were very grateful for the girls' hard work. All in attendance mentioned that they can’t wait to come back next year to get their gifts wrapped again!
