The IAM Strong Foundation, which seeks to shatter the stigma surrounding teen mental health struggles, has announced its spring 2018 grant cycle. This grant cycle opens on February 1 and will extend through April 1. Grants will be awarded on or before May 1.
The very first grant cycle for the IAM Strong Foundation was held in the fall of 2015, and grant cycles have continued twice a year since then. This past fall, three grants were awarded to Worcester State University Counseling Center, Families for Depression Awareness, and the United Way Call2Talk Program, respectively.
Last spring, grants were awarded to ten organizations, including Norwood High School (to create mindfulness corners for students participating in the Therapeutic, Academic, Supportive Classroom), Ashland Public Schools (to fund training counselors and staff in the SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program), Hale Reservation (to fund a teen workshop focusing on wellness themes for girls), and Judge Baker Children’s Center (to help provide mental health assessments and care to under-resourced youth).
Through their grant cycles, the IAM Strong Foundation seeks to continue to open the conversation about adolescent mental health, to provide support to those who are struggling, and to provide education for parents, teachers, and adolescents. Grant applications from all communities are welcome, and the IAM Strong Foundation will review applications for up to $10,000 or more per grant. Grant applicants must be non-profit organizations or affiliated individuals who share a vision that aligns with the values and mission of the IAM Strong Foundation. All applications must be received by April 1, 2018, and applicants will be notified by May 1.
