On Thursday, October 26, over sixty seniors gathered at the Westwood Senior Center for their highly anticipated annual Halloween luncheon. The senior center buzzed with excitement as both sides of the function room teemed with guests dressed in orange and black attire, some even donning Halloween costumes that added to the festive ambiance. Their outfits complemented the Halloween-themed decorations and the spooktacular tunes that filled the room.
Tommy Rull, a beloved performer, provided musical entertainment for this Halloween Bash, playing a variety of tunes, including classics like "The Monster Mash" and "Sweet Caroline." Seniors enthusiastically sang along, filling the room with their voices. "It's always a good time in Westwood!" Rull exclaimed after a lively rendition of "Pretty Woman," capturing the true spirit of the event. The celebration even took a fun twist as seniors formed a conga line, parading around the function room after their sumptuous Italian meal.
The seniors enjoyed a delectable luncheon featuring chicken, broccoli alfredo, meatballs, and stuffed shells from the Chateau, topped off with delightful eclairs for dessert. The meal was graciously served by staff from Fox Hill Village and Westwood dispatchers.
Throughout the event, Council on Aging (COA) Director Lina Arena-DeRosa mingled with the seniors, engaging in conversations and cherishing their company. Board Selectman Joseph Previtera expressed his admiration for Arena-DeRosa, acknowledging her as a terrific advocate and a cherished friend. Arena-DeRosa's meticulous organization and coordination of the luncheon allowed the seniors to come together and relish the holiday among friends, creating lasting memories and a sense of community.
It was truly an event enjoyed by all and it is safe to say that the seniors of Westwood are eagerly anticipating the next holiday luncheon at the Westwood COA.
