Over the weekend, the World of Wellesley held a summer gathering at Warren Park to celebrate community. Boston families and new families were welcomed alike over sandwiches, fruit and other refreshments. Over 200 people were in attendance, welcomed by organizers Allison Britton, Kate Griffith, Sajida Khudairi, Russ Cramer and WOW President Michelle Chalmers.

The event included activities for kids and tables set up by Wellesley METCO and WHS students, such as Adriana Voci, Founder and President of The Diversity Club. Wellesley High School students from the Jazz Combo were also in attendance to play for the crowd.

Parent Kim Hornung, mother of two boys, said, "Michelle Chalmers and Allison Britton obviously put a lot of thought and effort into bringing the community together for this special event to wrap up the summer and engage us in a positive outreach to new families joining this community. It truly felt good to take a moment to reach out a hand to meet and welcome someone new. I think this kind of casual event makes it so much easier for new families to connect with what will hopefully become a familiar 'go to' face and perhaps even a good friend! I remember being 'the new kid on the block,’ and it can be intimidating."
