Registration for the 2016 Wellesley Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run, a community road race that has become a beloved Thanksgiving Day tradition, will open next month on July 1.

Race organizers are encouraging runners to sign up early as the race sold out last year.
The race, which is planned for Thursday, November 24, at 8 a.m., is managed by the Wellesley Turkey Trot Foundation, Inc. a grass-roots organization dedicated to engaging the community in physical fitness and supporting local charities in the areas of cancer and medical research, education, and community service. In the past two years, the foundation has awarded more than $137,000 to local non-profit organizations.
“We have been thrilled to donate one-hundred percent of the proceeds from the Wellesley Turkey Trot 5K and Kids Fun Run to charities that fit our mission and make an impact on our community,” said Carol Chaoui, Wellesley Turkey Trot Foundation, Inc. board president.
She continued, “Our award beneficiaries include the Wellesley Field Fund, Wellesley Cancer Prevention Project, Wellesley Education Foundation, Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Children’s Hospital Boston. We are currently looking for non-profits to be considered as possible beneficiaries this year.”
Organizations interested in applying to the foundation must have charitable (501(c)(3) designation with filings up to date, and provide detailed information on how a grant would further their work and positively impact the community.
