Wellesley Cotillion upcoming, seeking donations

The Wellesley Cotillion, a formal evening open to all high school juniors and seniors who reside in Wellesley or attend Wellesley High School, will be held on January 6, 2018.

The 2018 Wellesley Cotillion will be held from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at Boston University’s Metcalf Hall Ballroom, situated on the 2nd floor of the George Sherman Union Building, 775 Commonwealth Ave, Boston. Invitations will be mailed the week of Thanksgiving to Wellesley families with a young adult who is a junior or senior in a public or private high school, as well as to Wellesley High School juniors and seniors who live outside of Wellesley.

The Cotillion Committee is collecting gently-worn or never-worn formal dresses (current styles only) to be sold for $10 each at a Pop Up Store at the Wellesley Community Center on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 5 and 6, from 3-7 p.m. The proceeds from the sale of the dresses will fund the rental of tuxes for anyone requiring financial assistance for this year’s event. Dress donations can be dropped off at the labeled bins at 17 Ox Bow Road and 2 Woodchester Road in Wellesley. If the dress is clean, keep it on the hanger in the plastic dry cleaning bag. The deadline to drop off the dresses is Wednesday, November 29.

Many adult volunteers have graciously offered their time and talents as chairs and committee leaders. Cotillion volunteers are now scheduling additional parent/guardian volunteers in various roles to support the young guests, to ensure that the evening is a success, and to coordinate smooth transitions from Wellesley High, to luxury coach, to the BU venue, and back. Adults interested in volunteering may visit www.wellesleycotillion.org and look for the links to volunteer.
