Katrina Smith applied for and received a full Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) scholarship that she will use at Purdue University to study computer science and engineering. She is one of four recipients of the scholarship in New England.
Marine Captain Patrick Deane presented the scholarship to Katrina at Wellesley High School awards ceremony May 25.
In addition to achieving excellent grades, Smith also passed the difficult physical fitness requirements and several intense interviews required to receive the NROTC scholarship.
