On Sunday, November 6, the Wellesley Middle School 8th Grade Chorus traveled to Rhode Island to perform “God Bless America” at the Providence Bruins game.

Although the P-Bruins lost to the Scranton Penguins in a penalty shootout, the singers can claim their performance as a win.

According to WMS Choral Director Lauren Connors, “The Song Sisters and Brooks Brothers form an incredible choir and the 56 singers present performed in four-part harmony unaccompanied. No small feat for this age group.”

The WMS 8th Grade Choir will be closer to home for their Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wellesley Middle School Auditorium. This free performance will address the theme of “Strength.”

Highlights include a song in the style of a South Indian Raga, a field holler by Stephen Hatfield, a nod to the HMS Pinafore’s strong sailors, and a mashup of two Brazilian folk songs. The Brooks Brothers have chosen to arrange “Superheroes” by The Script and the Song Sisters are arranging “Brave” by Sara Bareilles. The 8th grade student-run a cappella group, Clefhangers 2016, will be making their debut on the evening as well.
