On Friday, December 8th, Walpole students experienced an early dismissal, prompting the Walpole Public Library (WPL) to graciously organize an Early Release Day Movie showing. Families and friends gathered at the library to enjoy the popular Christmas movie, The Polar Express.

Attendees were encouraged to wear their coziest winter pajamas and bring fuzzy blankets, with slippers being highly recommended. Some children even sported bear claw slippers of impressive size! As everyone assembled in the room, parents and guardians arranged their spots on the floor in front of the screen. Concurrently, various activities were available for the children, including coloring pages with markers, a Polar Express Maze, a Polar Express Word Search, and a Polar Express Crossword puzzle.

Train-themed books were laid out on the opposite side of the room, and the space was adorned with decorations inspired by The Polar Express, including golden tickets and trains.

The movie experience was complemented with a selection of snacks provided at the event. Attendees enjoyed hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream, an assortment of candies including candy canes and chocolates, freshly popped popcorn, and cookies.

The event received support from members of the WPL Teen Advisory Board, Parent Advisory Board, and Children’s Program Coordinator, Nikki Cataloni. Their dedication to organizing the event was evident, and their enthusiasm added to the festive atmosphere.

After completing activities and gathering snacks, attendees settled in together as the movie began. The room fell silent as children sat in awe of the screen, enjoying their popcorn and sweet treats.

Beyond being a delightful post-dismissal activity, the event succeeded in building excitement for the upcoming Christmas festivities.
