The Town of Walpole Memorial Day observances were held Monday, May 25th, on the Town Common to honor fallen heroes as well as those who serve today. Ian Rogers, Director of Veterans Services, opened the ceremony.
Keynote speaker Attorney Steven Brady, a 20-year career veteran as an Army JAG officer and recipient of the Bronze Star, encouraged the crowd gathered to “live our lives in a manner in which the fallen would be proud of; to make their sacrifice worthwhile."

“We can and should treat one another with dignity and respect. We can and should be involved in our government,” he continued. “By doing our small part, we honor their sacrifice.”

The service concluded with a prayer offered by Rev. Anna Flowers, Senior Pastor at the United Church in Walpole. “Let us leave this place with a renewed sense of purpose,” she said, “To live with integrity, to walk with courage and to serve one another in unity.”
All were invited to a barbecue following the service, hosted by the VFW Post on Robbins Rd.
