Famous astronaut Christa McAuliffe was a native of Framingham, and so is actor Judith Kalaora, who will present her portrayal of Mrs. McAuliffe at the Walpole Public Library on Monday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m.
This presentation of “Challenger: Soaring with Christa,” a one-woman play and multi-media experience written and performed by Ms. Kalaora, is sponsored by the Friends of the Walpole Public Library, with free admission and no reservations required.
This program is especially suitable for children, as it portrays an inspiring dedicated teacher.
“Ask anyone about Christa McAuliffe and they will tell you exactly where they were when the Challenger shuttle launched,” said Judith Kalaora, Founder and Artistic Director of History at Play.
She continued, “However, few people understand who Mrs. McAuliffe really was. America's teacher in space was an educational pioneer, and her goals and accomplishments are explored in this presentation, which honors the 30th anniversary of the Challenger launch. The audience will discover the true story behind this incredible teacher and American Pioneer.”
Judith Kalaora is a well-rounded actor who is experienced in all forms of entertainment and media. She also teaches Improv Acting.
History at Play is her series of solo performances chronicling the lives of influential but oft-forgotten women. At the Walpole Public Library last year, thanks to The Friends, she entertained in her role as actress-inventor Hedy Lamarr, and also later gave a fascinating and tasty lecture on chocolate.
