The town of Walpole came together last Monday to honor and remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country at the annual Memorial Day ceremonies.
With a forecast of heavy downpours throughout the morning, the ceremonies were moved indoors, but that did not stop a sizable group of people from making it out to the ceremonies.
Instead of being held at the town common, the ceremonies were moved indoors to Blackburn Hall.
During the ceremonies, several members of the armed forces gave speeches and highlighted the importance of remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
This year, guest speaker Maj. Adam Sacchetti gave the main speech at the ceremony. Maj. Sacchetti is a graduate of Walpole High School, and has severed in a number of positions in the Marine Corps over the years.
In addition to military members and their families, members of local Boy Scout troops helped out with the ceremonies, and the Walpole High band performed several songs during the ceremonies.
After the ceremonies, the Walpole VFW post provided free burgers and hot dogs tofo those who attended the event.
