From Ford Broncos to the Love Bug, classic cars filled Walpole for Classic Car Show on Stone Street. This event is hosted by the Walpole Chamber of Commerce and the Azure Masonic Lodge. This second annual car show was put on by the duo, and it brought in countless car fans this year as well.
The cars lined the public parking lot next to Stone Field allowing tons of people to walk through and admire the vehicles. Many families were enjoying the wonderful weather and the ability to share their passion for classic cars with their children.
While what age makes a car “classic” is debated within the automotive community, most of the vehicles on display were from the 1980’s or earlier. The oldest car on display was from 1934 and the newest were sports cars from the 2020’s. The car owners could be found walking around to admire other vehicles as well as answering questions about their own rides.
Owners proudly posed with their prized cars through the afternoon, relishing in the warm weather. The clear skies allowed for the convertible cars to be fully open giving spectators a good look at the interiors of the vehicles. The cars with solid roofing had their windows down to show off the bright leather seats and stick shifts that classic car enthusiasts know and love.
The hosts of the event were also handing out voting ballots to the children so they could hand out three children’s choice awards. This helped to keep younger attendees entertained, as well as encouraging these guests to engage with the car owners and hear the stories of the vehicles. Many of the cars had been refurbished and some even rebuilt to return them to their original glory.
Local musician Eddie J was offering live soft rock throughout the show, bringing the perfect songs to drive along too. By playing these iconic throwback hits, Eddie J brought back the days that these cars would have first seen the road.
The Walpole Classic Show had a vehicle for everyone from the most versed collector to the casual fan. This annual event is a wonderful way to bring a smaller community into Walpole and celebrate the act of maintaining and restoring automobiles.
