It was another jam-packed night at the Boylston Schul-Verein (BSV) on Friday, May 24th as the German/American Club of Walpole kicked off the start of summer with their May Country Biergarten. This gorgeous venue included an outdoor covered seating area underneath their pavilion, filled with dangling lights overhead. There was also a playground and meadow for little ones to play on and a newly renovated bar where adults could purchase alcoholic beverages.
Food was additionally available for purchase including BBQ, pizza, ice cream, and baked goods. While attendees enjoyed the food, drinks, and company, they could listen to a live musical performance by the country band Shady Armadillo.
With storms just hitting the area a day before, the BSV could not have lucked out with a more perfect night. High 70’s with a slight breeze made for the perfect evening for an outside event like this. The overall turnout was incredible as hundreds of people gathered to enjoy some beer and country music. Some attendees even brought some games to play as they enjoyed their night out.
President of the BSV, Angela DeMartino, was ultimately thrilled with how this kick-off event turned out. “Our volunteers are here,” DeMartino stated, “and they helped out all throughout the day to set up. It definitely helped us out too that the weather is so perfect today. We have a brand new bar area this year that we have constructed over the winter. This was also created mainly by our volunteers who truly are amazing to work with. We have a lot of events coming up this summer that we are really excited about as well. We had to change some dates around compared to last year and we tried really hard to work around high school graduations as best as we could. If all goes well, there should be a great summer of events ahead!”
There are three additional Biergarten events happening throughout the summer including a Reggae Biergarten happening on June 28th, a "Back to the 80s" Biergarten happening on July 26th, and a Beatles Biergarten happening on August 23rd.
